“Education is for living, culture is for living well”
One particular trait of the No Frontiers political group, is that it strives
to prompt culture and knowledge among its members.
Every week, the No Frontiers Cultural Committee, which is a group of three people, with different backgrounds and interests, chooses a topic for open discussion. Topics evolve around philosophy, society, ideologies and experiences of other people or groups that can be interesting for discussion. The positive and negative aspects, and what can people learn from such issues is debated. Politics, on the other hand, is seldom the topic, as cultural meetings target a large audience, with a genuine interest in culture and education , away from politics . Everyone, regardless of affiliation or beliefs, may attend cultural meetings and join in on the discussion. Genuine interest in the topic at hand is the driving force behind these meetings, that more often than none, lead to heated debates on each and every one’s point of view.
Background to the topic is made available to interested people via the No Frontiers Cultural mailing list, in the form of articles and suggested readings on the issue to be debated.
The chairman of the cultural committee arbiters the discussions, yet it is the participants that lead them. Members of the cultural mailing list may propose readings and suggestions for future discussions, and may be asked to act as arbiters of the meeting, concidering their level of knowledge on the subject.
A speaker, may sometimes be invited to discuss a certain topic, and the cultural committee has hosted Scholars, professors, activists and students from a wide pool of interesting individuals.
The No Frontiers group believes that knowledge is the key to success, and culture can lead to better practice of politics. It is from the experience of the predecessors that people learn.
Politics takes a back seat during these meetings, yet this does not prevent certain political issues to be the subject of discussion. Nonetheless, the core of political debates is held during NF regular meetings. Because NF aims to recruit interesting individuals, it is required for interested people to attend a few cultural meetings before being invited to attend an NF meeting.
